Hello ladies its time to retro ise your make up!! (Also check out (1940's- 1950's) in an earlier post)

1960's - the time of exaggerated everything!

  1. Apply your foundation and an oil control powder.
  2. Smooth a light eyebase on your eyelids from lashline to crease.
  3. Pat matte white eyeshadow from lashline to browbone with a sponge applicator. You need a thick chalky block of colour!
  4. Apply black eyeshadow along your crease line with a small damp brush. Soften slightly.
  5. Line your upper lashline with black liquid eyeliner, the innermost corner should be narrower than the centre of the line and the outer corner should be thicker.
  6. Line your lower lashline with black liquid liner or if you prefer black kohl. Make sure the outer corners meet.
  7. Sweep a pale rosey pink blush high on your cheekbones. Soften considerably.
  8. Slick your lips with concealer to lighten the natural color.
  9. Slick your lips with LOTS of very pale pink gloss.

1970's - After the slightly garish 60's the 70's were pared down and inspired by natural colours.

  1. Apply your foundation and powder as normal.
  2. Sweep pastel lilac shadow from lashline to crease. Blend well into the crease.
  3. Blend a pastel greeny/blue into the outer corner of eyelid, then drag out slightly toward end of your eyebrow.
  4. Dot a lavander shadow in the inner corner.
  5. Line your upper lashline with the lavander shadow on a damp brush.
  6. Sweep a couple coats of brown lengtheing shadow onto upper and lower lashes.
  7. Finish with a delicate pink lipstick.

Enjoy retro - ising

Nautical Fashions

Nautical seems here to stay and who wouldnt love nautical with the flattering colours and charming details?

Nautical consists of four main colours Navy, Red, Black and White. Stripes is the nautical buzz word, from striped dresses to striped shoes. With details such as anchor pendants, rope belts and other sailorish motifs.

A navy and white striped jumper dress, navy leggings, red heels and an anchor pendant and you are good to go. Simple yet so fashionable. And this look is easy to complete with a swipe of navy eyeliner and a dab of red lipgloss.

Selena Gomez's Style

I love Selena's style! I would call her look wholesome but apparently she hates being described with that word. But she has that look which is sexy and attractive, without being trashy, without large amounts of skin on show. Its sort of modest I guess while still being sexy. Either she has a really great stylist or she has sensational fashion sense!

Her look is elegant and mature, yet sexy. This is how all young hollywood actresses should dress!!

Fashion Note - Gold Sparkles

(Fashion notes is a thing my friend suggested, basically im going to tell you in short about a trend, that I cant find pictures for or there just isnt much to say,so its a note not a post :)

According to vogue cold sequined tops/jackets are very in, with Cameron Diaz wearing a completely sequined gold jacket on the cover and a sequined jumper by jaeger in the must haves section. Be bold and go for all over sequins or be more subtle with sequined cuffs and colors or a sequined design.

Thanks for reading my first fashion note and you can expect more.

Eyeliner Review - Clinique Cream Shaper for Eyes in Egyptian

Unfortunatley i have no camera, so no pictures but I shall do my best with my words.

Color - Egyptian, this color is difficult to explain its a greeny, browny black color with light gold sparkles.

Texture - its very creamy, if you rub it with a dry finger it will vanish in seconds.

Durability - I left the house this morning at 9 came back at 2 no smudges, went out again at 4 came back at 4:20 no smudges. Im still wearing it now at 5 with no smudges. It was a very hot sunny day today and I got hot and sticky but the eyeliner stayed put.

Waterproof - No

Rating - 5/5 - would reccomend to anyone, I also think the color would suit anyone.

Retro- ise (1940s - 1950s)

Retro is the buzz word in make up (as well as natural) But retro - ising your make up can be a scary thing, boots has taken some of the scare away with the release of their 7 decades make up line. Each decase has eyeshadow, nail polish and lipgloss picked and co ordinated along with instructions. How easy right!

So I havnt bought any of the range yet (bank broke from buying revision books ect)but I have seen and swatched and they look fantastic. But this post isn't about the boots range I just thought id mention it as its all retro - y. So back on topic Ive decided to write two retro make up tutorials in this post one for 1940S and the other 1950s. I will put together some looks for other decades too but Ive been busy so I only have these two sorted.

Lets start with the flirty 1950's....

1950's is all about the flirtacious look, long fluttery eye lashes and glossy full lips.

  1. Apply your foundation and powder as usual.
  2. Smooth a light eyebase on your lids from lashline to crease.
  3. Sweep a bright blue eyeshadow across entire eyelid until just over the crease.
  4. Take the shadow slightly higher towards the end of your brow, keep the shadow in a rounded shape.
  5. Dot a pastel blue shadow in the inner corner of your eye.
  6. Line your lower lashline with the same color.
  7. Dust a touch of aqua shadow from lasline to just below crease. Just a little!
  8. Line the upper lashline with a thick line of black liquid liner at the outer corner flick it out slightly.
  9. In the outer corner of your eye add a few long flirty false lashes.
  10. Curl your lashes, including the falsies.
  11. Apply lots of lengthening mascara, apply extra in the outer corner.
  12. Smooth lips with a bright, bright res lipstick (Think Marylin Monroe)
  13. The modernise it with a slick of red gloss.

Now the 1940s ...

The 1940s look is based on all the hollywood starlet 'sex kittens' of the time.

  1. Apply foundation and oil control powder as you need a matte face.
  2. Sweep a light beige shadow from lashline to browbone.
  3. Using a medium chocolatey brown shadow on a small fluffy brush trace your crese line starting in the innor corner going out, blend very well.
  4. Line your upper lashline with a dark brown shadow on a wet brush.
  5. Line lower lashline with same color but with dry brush.
  6. Brush brows into a neat high arched shape, use a brow pencil to exaggerate the arch.
  7. Curl lashes and sweep on two - three coats of black mascara.
  8. Lightly buff a deep rosey blush along cheek bones, for barely there color.
  9. Smooth a cherry red lipstick onto lips and soften with clear gloss

Hope you enjoy retro - ising your face and more retro looks to come..
